Every year, 4 million Snowbirds are staying 3 to 6 months in Florida. A quarter of them (one million) are speaking French, coming from Québec, Ontario or other Canadian States.
We started our newspaper (and website) Le Courrier in 2013 to be their newspaper in the three sunny counties of South Florida (Broward, Palm Beach and Miami Dade).

Box of newspapers Le Courrier at the Canadian “Desjardins Bank” in Hallandale
Thanks to our francophone team (we are from Québec and from France), Le Courrier is reaching most of the Snowbirds, but also the French nationals (46000 in Florida) and the other francophones (Haïtians, Belgians, Swiss, Africans…).
The Snowbirds are common to Florida between November and April. In the 1980s they were a lot in Miami. Then they colonised Broward county and now they are more and more in Palm Beach County. You’ll also find some on the West coast, but probably 95% are in South Florida.
We deliver Le Courrier des Amériques in the tower of condos, with French names at Sunny Isles Beach, in the Mobile Home parks of Hallandale, or Pompano Beach, in the RV Resorts of Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach etc etc… All year long we deliver 350 French Speaking banks, restaurants, consulates, schools etc, and during the 6 winter months we deliver an addition 150 of those parks and residences where you find only Canadians.
They appreciate that we deliver to them in French the news of the community and some articles to inform them about everything necessary to live in South Florida. Of course, we also publish the advertisings of all the companies which are giving the important services to them : realtors, attorneys, cruises, golf, restaurants, bakeries, television, doctors and dentists etc etc…
Early may, when the migration is going back to Canada, then our Snowbirds continue to read us online from Canada.
Le Courrier is working with the most important professional partners, with the ads of Desjardins Bank, Natbank, Canam Golf, SCL Bouchard, Richard’s Motel, Rivard Insurance… and in good relationship with the consulate of Canada or the local Canadian associations of Florida which are also distributing a lot of our newspapers.
